Teams that were regular in albums, and now they fall out of grace.

This thread is a bit of nostalgia one from me. I usually follow only the Premier League, and occasionally check the other major league tables but only the tom half. I just noticed that Valencia is currently 18th in La Liga, and it dire thread of relegation. I just felt so sad. I really liked Valencia in the early 00s. The played back-to-back Champions league finals in 00 and 01, Won Uefa cup in 04. In the first decade of the century there were a regular team in champions league albums. Now they are shadow of their former selves.

This made me think of other teams that were regulars in my youth, that are nowhere to be found today. Deportivo La Coruna - another Spanish team for instance. They were so big in early 00s, and now are bottom team in Segunda. Schalke 04. A regular team in albums for Germany, now a bottom team in 2nd Bundesliga.

Lyon from France. They were huge between 00-10. And usually reaching the knock-out rounds almost every year. Now they are no longer a championship material, very rare to see them in the CHL, and are provisionally relegated if they do not improve their financial situation until season end.

Do you have some favorite teams of your's that you collected in earlier years, that today do not qualify for many major tournaments?

My favourite team is AJ Auxerre. They won 4 times the French Cup between 1996 and 2005 and won the championship in 1996. 3 players were in the squad during the World Cup France 98. Every year in European Cup, and even in semi-final in 1993 (UEFA Cup) or Quarter Final (1997 for Champions League, many years for UEFA and Europa League). But they played in second league during more than ten years between 2012 and now (except in 2022-23). But we're back now, and for a long time ^^
