Set Completion Tips & Advise

Hello! I have been reading a lot of old threads recently and get the general jist that i personally pick up is that there are (in a very broad & generalised way of saying it) two types of collectors; those that aim to complete one set at a time and those that buy lots of different ones. I feel I fall into the latter, but just can't help it (I think we can all agree that there are lots of sets released within a short period of time)

So, my question is...how do you concentrate on just completing one set (especially when you're on a budget) & stop yourself from buying the newest and latest set.

Also, does anyone else struggle this way? or just me??
