Panini has won the rights to produce the English Premier League (EPL) sticker album and card collections from the 2019-20 season. CardzReview was the first source that broke this news thanks to Greg. You can read the full article here and also the interview with Peter Warsop on Panini EPL deal.

More information to come soon.

Use this thread to discuss your thoughts about the collection the news and the fact Panini won the licensing battle against Topps after so many years.

Here are two images that Greg took. Photo credits go to him and the image re-use is not allowed without his permission.

Impressive news!

Not only for PL collectors, but also for all lovers of FIFA 365. Now Panini has the option to add more English teams to the collection.

I'm curious what impact this will also have on the Bundesliga collections of Topps, as the Bundesliga has just extended the license with Topps. Looks like this is now the most important license Topps still holds in Europe after the loss of the Premier League rights.

On a Facebook page, some guy wrote that Panini/ESTE could lose "LaLiga" due to a partnership Topps/Mundicromo...Wait and see!
Anyway, it's a great news for English Football!

Fantastic! This is news that I have been waiting for!

I might have mentioned once or twice in the past that I am very disappointed in @ToppsMerlin so welcome back @OfficialPanini

This comment on the Cardzreview page by Group Licensing Director Peter Warsopsays it all for me:

“As you would expect from Panini, nothing will be neglected. It’s a shocking fact that the Premier League Sticker Album category has been left to diminish to almost nothing at all; perhaps just 1 or 2% of the ‘glory days’. You can expect investment in a very much better product than has been seen over recent years with a deep and broad programme to support it."

I could cry right now, this is my childhood revisited! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Only one more bog standard colour by numbers album by Topps to go, thankfully!!!!!

Great news in England for sure, we all know Panini can produce better jobs than Topps (except World Cup, but they do it on purpose)... Sticker collection will definitely be improved and hopefully spark again the fire in english collectors.

About cards, be aware one thing though: Panini will definitely make Adrenalyn sets, which might mean a much more difficult set to complete, which is bad news for kids... Hopefully, it'll be easier than the usual international sets like 365, WC and Euro.

So, to Panini: don't be greedy. I'm sure securing EPL rights was expensive, but english collectors are excepting A LOT from you and they don't want to be betrayed with price increases and tougher sets to complete.

Panini stickers are clearly better than Topps, but I'm not sure about trading cards.

Next to Match Attax, Topps also produced really good collections of classic trading cards. Not Panini. Adrenalyn XL in France, Spain or Italy are very poor collections...

It will be intriguing to see if it includes the Championship, League One and League Two. We can only dream that it will be like the Calciatori style album we used to have in the 80s.

I expect we'll see a boost in sticker collecting for the domestic leagues here especially if it's marketed well. If we see Panini events at the grounds on match days I'm certain it will succeed.

Totally agree @dantzig especially if the album is hard to collect as it's such a shame to see collectors get disillusioned when they can't finish it. We know so many that start the World Cup album and then give up due to the size.

I think the missing sticker service should be relaxed to enable the last 100 to be bought or maybe something completely different to encourage albums to be finished quickly.

I have mixed emotion about this news.

On one hand I'm glad Topps finally lost the rights because of their half arsed efforts for the Prem sticker collection(not collected it in about 3 or 4 years) & their scam of Gold, Silver & Bronze limited edition idea. That was the worst idea ever done by a card manufacturing company, without exaggeration.
Furthermore, the poor quality of the cards and below par designs add to the reasons why Topps have failed in the UK.
Did I mention the price increase this year and the reduction of cards in packets.

On the other hand, Panini is NOT that much better.

Having seen/collected Serie A & La Liga AXL the last 2 years and watched the Portugal collection on you tube, Panini have been recycling the card designs from Spain to Italy & Portugal. For example, this years Serie A designs are the same of La Liga from 17/18 season.

That's not innovation, that's stagnation & lack of effort.

So unless the Premier League(best & biggest league in the world) gets a brand new unique design, we will all be saying, WTF are they doing?

Another negative for Panini is their online service, if you don't live in countries where the collections are released, you can't order & finish your collection. That will not bode well with many collectors around the world..

Indeed, the league sets are not really on pair with international sets like 365. However, they are more affordable to complete, at least I remember doing portuguese league sets for half the price (or less) than I did Euro 2016 for example.

Lower leagues there still have amazing attendances, so Panini had to consider including them too.

Panini never goes for more than 50 stickers to be ordered until the first year. Then they double prices, but allow until 100.

World Cup was not so bad with stickers, but cards... Boosters at 1,5 and you needed to buy 200/300 boosters to have a decent chance to complete... Even ordering the last ones from Panini is expensive... English surely don't want something like this again with their league set.

it's a scary thought which Carlos paints as possiblity with the Adrenalyn Premier League sets - however, i think they will keep the collection very similar to the fantastic Serie A and La Liga Adrenalyn collections with only around 20-25 Limited Editions for the collection and maximum of 5 Top Player cards. All of which will be available in the UK in products so values wont rocket like if an LE card was Turkey and Solomon Islands LE exclusives of the kit man's sister to make up 36,565 Limited Editions like the WC adrenalyn has disgracefully done and similar "worldwide" collections like the terrible 365 set.

well i hope anyway...!!!
I believe that EPL cards set will be similar to what you had there with England collections, with just more cards to complete. No need to buy 300 boosters just to get enough for the Top Masters or whatever. No family would be happy to make a Panini set that would cost hundreds, when Topps was easier.

Oh but Panini will recycle designs for sure. I'll not be surprised if they use the design from a previous season league. Nobody there in England should be expect some fresh 365-like design. Which is why @Zhou has alerted about league sets. But you never know, since it's the first season with Adrenalyn, Panini might go all out, which is good.

Yes! At last. More than 12 players per team!

you have to remember Art... Topps does exactly the same "imitation" technique with the Bundesliga MA set and Premier League in years gone by. Both companies living in the past when they thought collectors from other countries didnt collect their sets so it would be fresh!!
For me Im really looking forward to the design being the same as this years Calciatori Adrenalyn but it may be personal taste??

As for Topps GSB scam i'm right behind you on that one and would fight anyone who even attempted to suggest a 1:8 ratio for a card in a product was a fantastic idea - feel that strongly!!! :p

Bit off topic and apologies to mods but have to say if you or anyone else need a UK address for the online service sure plenty of us are happy to help, what we all chat to each other for in my opinion. I can get plenty of different UK addresses & friends names if need be.

As for the Best league in the world - lets just say thats a controversial opinion especially as its so far behind La Liga in co-efficient points - well it was when they used them anyway!! Richest league in the world certainly no arguments from anyone i reckon!!!
I am hoping for a new design if they want to attract new collectors or just bring back the ones who got peeved with Topps and their malarky. Thanks for the offer. We shall see how Panini is going to approach the missing cards/stickers
situation.

Spanish teams are better in Europe the last few season 100% but in no way shape or form La Liga is stronger than the Prem when RM & Barca win it every year scoring 1000 goals each. No other team apart from A Madrid has won the league in the past 100 years. :p

Imo it's a mickey mouse league not on par with the Prem which has at least 6 teams all capable of winning the league.
Not talking about players here but clubs and the quality of 'em.

Can you honestly say that you can call a different team winning La Liga beginning of each season, apart from the big 2? No chance mate, you know it. ;)

My opinion about that is the next:

If Panini has won the rights of English Premier League, they shouldn´t release anymore the FIFA 365 collection, at least Adrenalyn XL.

I´m telling that because in Spain since 365 exists, Panini Spain hasn´t release any Adrenalyn 365 collection and just one of sitckers a couple of seasons ago.

Here this year there are many rumors which say that 18/19 will be the last of Panini publishing the Spanish League collections and Topps will be the new publisher from the season 19/20. That´s maybe the reason why Panini has bought the Premier League rights, because both Adrenalyn and Liga Este are the top seller from Panini Spain.
I also have to say that Panini collections are horrible; with Liga Este 18/19 we have 5 editions and you have to spend at least 100€ to finish it!!!! and don´t want to talk about Megacracks because this collection was released about 5th August and now 10th October we don´t have second edition and more than 100 cards are missing right now and aren´t avaible yet so a complete disaster!

But well let´s see what happen in Uk market because it´ll be interesting.
