Panini France 98 Insert Set?

Hi everyone,

I recently got the 1998 Panini France 98 trading cards set. A long time ago, I got some random cards from France 98 Panini but I just discovered that this set does not include the cards I already had many years ago.

I attached the checklist of the 100 card set and one of the cards I already had, Hristo Stoichkov.

The set is of 100 but the Hristo card says 6/28 on the back and is not part of the 100 checklist.

So any clue what this 28 insert set is?

Thanks

Well, that was hard to find... Indeed, the 28 set is not part of the 100 set (120 in Japan), I actually had the feeling this set was from some partnership with some other company (like Kelloggs in Italia 90)

After some research, I found a Balakov card from that 28 set, then with Balakov keyword, found a guy missing this card from a Nestle-Panini partnership.

So this 28-set came out in Nestle cereals boxes, each box had 3 cards... Set had 3 shinies (the first 3 cards) and the checklist is this one:

PANINI NESTLE WORLD CUP 98 Checklist:
1 FRANCE 98
2 F.I.F.A.WORLD CUP
3 FOOTIX
4 KRASIMIR BALAKOV
5 YORDAN LECHKOV
6 HRISTO STOICHKOV
7 ZVONIMIR BOBAN
8 DAVOR SUKER
9 OLIVER KAHN
10 MATTHIAS SAMMER
11 MARIO BASLER
12 LARS RICKEN
13 BIXENTE LIZARAZU
14 MARCEL DESAILLY
15 YOURI DJORKAEFF
16 ZINEDINE ZIDANE
17 ANGELO PERUZZI
18 PAOLO MALDINI
19 DEMETRIO ALBERTINI
20 GIANFRANCO ZOLA
21 RAMON RAMIREZ
22 LUIS GARCIA
23 CARLOS HERMOSILLO
24 FERNANDO COUTO
25 RUI COSTA
26 JOAO PINTO
27 GHEORGHE HAGI
28 GHEORGHE POPESCU

Btw, since this set has some players from teams that didn't go to World Cup (such as Fernando Couto and Rui Costa from Portugal), I assume this was some kind of Road to World Cup 1998.

Neither did I, until @IBES16 shown us Stoichkov card... Only got lucky after minutes searching for Bulgaria trading cards, with the Balakov one... Then found some romanian guy missing that card and saying it was from Nestle... Then all became clear, adding Nestle keyword... There are many links with pictures too, here's the one I found most interesting, because this also had a mini-binder :)

Thanks man. I have a Youri Djorkaeff and Ramon Ramirez too so 25 more to go lol

My wife's cousin in Mexico gave me these random cards back in 2004 and those 3 were part of it. I might have better luck finding the set in Mexico than online but will give it a shot.

Thanks again for the hard work.

No problem, it was fun to search :)

From what I read, US didn't have this collection, so if your wife's cousin got in Mexico, it's your best option... I know that Germany (and maybe France) also got this collection in their Nestle cereals (front and back pictures of the cereals box).

I saw someone selling that for $65 lol

Hopefully someone has them in Mexico for a cheaper amount. If not, then I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Hi all, so I managed to get my hands on a brand new box of this trading cards for a few $. I'm not a big trading cards fan so I don't know much about this collection. How rare is this collection? I only found one listing on eBay of 9 packs going for $20, so it makes me think they are either somewhat rare or people are just not interested in collecting this?
