Different stickers:

It was very hard to find any information about difference on the back or front of the stickers or types of promo stickers. So if any single stickers collectors with more in depth info is able to chime in and add some more photos, it would be great.

I compared what I had.

Update stickers, additional sets, promo merchandise
You should be aware that online sellers sell World Cup Story (published in 1990) stickers as an "update stickers set" to Argentina 78, but this is simply not true. World Cup Story only features players that were not in the album. So do not buy this lame story sellers are trying to sell. WCS stickers are pretty cheap and mass produced so do not spend your money on that, since I will say again, it is not a 1978 update set, its just a 1990 collection.

@marinerpete Ahhh...I am tired of people (mostly because of crappy online sellers) calling this a rare version from Yugoslavia...
So this album was published by Decje Novine, has nothing to do with Panini. It was published in ´82 and its kind of a World Cup Story from 1978-1982. Nothing that should go into this category for sure. Just idiotic sellers trying to rip people off.

I agree World Cup Story is just a collection, but anyway a good chance to have different stickers than WC albums. Selling as update make any sense at all, the correct way could be "Contains different stickers of players from past WC editions 1970-1990" or similars. Anyway Ebay is full of crazy sellers, and idea of RARE is really personal. How can be RARE an album printed in 1 million of copies?? I'm thinking about some Calciatori or WC or Eurocup :) And some guys are selling as "COMPLETE" the illustrated book version of albums... how couldn't be complete?!? Jesus...

Here are some pictures of the second Yugoslavian edition ("Od Argentine do Spanije").

The internal content is the same apart from
1) the first inner page that already contains all the 1978 World Cup scores, and
2) the inner back cover that has the 1978 World Cup statistics.

No Panini label on the front cover, but two explicit references to Panini on the inner side of both covers.

@CSKA Sofia Forever
This is not Panini album, not it has anything to do with FIFA '78.
Greedy sellers on eBay often sell this as '78 rare edition. In fact it was published in '82 and not by Panini for sure.

@Pavle So the Panini references have been put without any authorization from the Modena firm ?

No idea, point is this is not '78 album nor has anything to do with it, since it depicts world cups from 78-82, printed in '82.

The story I know about this album (and I am not coming from former Yugoslavia where this has been issued, so probably Pavle's information is more accurate):

It was a solo move by Decje Novine. Their sales of the 1978 Panini album were bad (and indeed, one can see on ebay much less Yugoslavian Panini 78 albums than the Yugoslavian editions for the other tournaments) - probably because Yugoslavia did not qualify for the tournament, and the matches were broadcast late in the night anyway. As a result, Decje Novine decided to reissue the album with a different name and cover without a Panini logo on the front cover. The layout inside was identical to the Panini 78 one (apart from the pages with the already filled out results and statistics from the 1978 World Cup). Panini reacted, though, very quickly and stopped the distribution of the album. As a result, there are only about 1000 copies in circulation. Formally, it is not a Panini-issued album, but de facto the inner pages and the stickers are identical, and it is very rare actually. I do not know the prices ebay traders are asking for it - I have been having it for about 15 years from a Serbian friend who told me this story (may be true, may be not, but at least I was not ripped off) ;)

Does anybody know this French set that was made for World Cup Argentina 78 under license of Panini?

It´s from a former French socks company that was called "STEMM" and contains 16 French players of the World Cup 1978.

It seems to be highly rare and i never saw these stickers before.

There was also a poster available for these stickers but this really seems to be unfindable nowadays.

The stickers of the French Football 78 edition look rather similar to the stemm edition but they are definitely not the same. As you can see on the French Football 78 poster these stickers have a round format and each sticker has an own number on it´s back. The stickers of the stemm edition neither have a round punching nor any numbers on their back. They have a rectangular format and this edition also got another poster. The complete stemm edition consists of 16 stickers (as visible on each back) while there are 18 different stickers available for the French Football 78 edition.
