New Panini/Topps albums that make sense

A random thought I had, and I do not know in which other thread to ask this, but what would be some good ideas for a future Panini/Topps album? Which tournaments/concepts would make a great album for us collectors?

Every UEFA competition to have it's own sticker collection; in Europa League and Conference are teams with huge fan bases and would probably love to collect it since they're team is playing.
Focus on non-top leagues with big fan bases (Poland first comes to mind).
Also stop publishing milion sensless collections such as Top Class, Superstars and other shit which only include top players and clubs.

There were dozens of ideas that were shared here along the years, but unfortunately, even if the publishers seen or had these ideas too, almost everything slams into licensing and royalties.

Personally, I would love a mix of the high-end trading cards quality, but embedded into the sticker albums. Not sure how it could be done though, but I think even the cheaper side of collecting deserve high quality stuff... problem here would be the usual, hoarders and schemers ruining everything.

As for tournaments, leagues, etc... well, this wouldn't be possible, but would love to see Topps trying a World Cup just to test them out... Panini made awful sets in the past events, so would like to see a different approach... But we all know Topps would make gazilions of extras that would probably ruin the basic collecting experience... Still would like to see that experience and maybe for one season of the portuguese league... Panini improved slightly this season, but still not enough imo.

The money is there and we know that's what drives them to make these very specific collections... Can't complain with Superstars though, I got a nice Benzema memorabilia card in a value box (pssst pssst... still boring to see the same cards with 13 variations) :D

I quite like TOP CLASS.

Thicker card stock not cheap bendy paper. Very nice inserts with different designs and stats in the back for those who are not familiar with some players. Holo Giants is a great idea and innovation. Although some might say LE cards with a different title.

Set is not as big as MA OR FIFA365 but condensed with less teams for those who want creme de la creme of football.
It's not for everyone but it is very popular judging by sales from various sites.

We have to be realistic here, we will not see cards like they were in 70's and 80's where teams from all across Europe were showcased. The romance of that has long gone.

Having said that Panini did have Nordic editions for many years with teams from the Nordic region included in their FIFA365 franchise. They also included(still do) teams from Hungary, Turkey & Russia among other European countries.

The hobby has changed and now it's all about the bottom line. Way back then when I was a kid it was all about pulling your favourite players and eating that Strawberry flavoured gum although it was stuck in the back of 1 card.

Now that Southampton have sadly been relegated in to the Championship, I would like Panini or Topps to compile a new sticker album for the league now that I won't see them in the Panini Premier League album next season. ;)

I'd like clean simple pages, not ones that have 9 billion different colours that looks like a pile of puke for the background.
Don't want shiny stickers except for the badges, don't want the stadiums either. Nor star players, etc etc.
And give every club the same amount of stickers, not just the popular ones.
1 player 1 sticker. Not endless, mind numbingly boring, different versions of the same player.

As for what tournament(s) to add - I don't care which, just as long as it fits in with the above.

Best albums, for me, came from the 70s/early 80s.

And yeah I'm probably in the minority, and not who they are likely to target for sales.

Another idea for a cool collection would be u-21 Euro championship, atleast for me personally.

You do small 160-200 sticker collection, country badges, players in action and hosts stadiums and you got a huge attention on the collection. Players in action to avoid boredom add badge and team photos maybe and that is it.

From who?

Rookie hunters
"Gotta catch them all" collectors who count how many they have and want to get more and more
Casual collectors who only collect EC/WC because maybe their country qualified, it's quick to finish, cheap - why not
Guys chasing one player collectors
Football fans from host country and/or countries that doesn't qualify often to EC/WC so they don't have chance to collect their country

On the other side I don't know how much this is realistic due to copyrights or how many people actually follow u21 Euro or WC but just a thought.

A friend told me the same some days ago, but all comes down to being worth for Panini or Topps... And Euros now belong to Topps, which had a tough time to secure all licensing federations, avoiding UNL this year too... probably too much trouble for a likely small profit in the best scenario.

I personally would like to see different sports. I usually enjoy collecting Adrenalyn/Attax collections (well, if limited editions are not taken into account ^^') and I think that there are interesting sports that could be tested in this format.

For instance, Topps has succeeded with Turbo Attax, so Panini could try Adrenalyn MotoGP, since they already have the rights and the amount of cards would be similar. Thinking of other big events this year, there is the Rugby World Cup, so Topps could release Rugby Attax again for 2023, and "Adrenalyn Tour de France" (although it would be more for next year) would be really crazy to have.
Also, handball collections (digitally in Spain and physically in Germany) have increased in the last years, and I would definitely buy an Adrenalyn/Attax collection for the Euro in january or the Champions League next season.
I miss something related to European basketball as well, I enjoy it more than NBA to be honest. It's been more than ten years without a physical ACB collection in Spain (Panini tried then a small section with a variation of Adrenalyn and it was fun for me to play) and, after what UpperDeck did with the Euroleague license (not selling the cards physically in Europe was a huge mistake in my opinion), it would be interesting to see if any of these competitions is licensed and what can be done with it.

My wildest dream is to have a beach football collection, but the sport must grow a lot before this could even be a real possibility.

I would like Cricket Attax collections, related to Indian Premier League end / or World Cups ... and since we are dreaming, why not a world of athletic collection, related to Olympics, for example.

We had Olympics albums from Panini in 2012 and 2016, but I think it was released only in host countries? Italy had some special edition too in one of these albums.

Problem will always be if certain album will sell, aside the usual investment in licenses.

Yes, at the end of the day, profit determines what collection is going to make it on the market. If handball survives, I really hope there is a chance for volleyball, too. I have always wondered why Panini/Topps never gave it a try with a Euroleague collection. I think the tournament is fantastic - very competitive, with quite some stars.

How about Tennis collection with top 100 male and female stars. I know that pay the rights for a lot of tennis players would mean a lot of money, but I think that it could be nice to have for once a ATP collection

Topps released a Tennis hobby set some months ago:

Sadly, it's missing a lot of the best players but as you wrote, the money involving the rights of those legends would be astonishing.

Rugby (These days there is a World Cup 2023 in France) -I really want to see it-,
Volleyball,
Basketball (just WC, Euro is so complicated),
Tennis (Just 4 Grand Slams in 1 album after they completed that year editions).

What an idea! As a tennis fan, I would definitely collect that. Maybe something more 'seasonal' and exclusive would be for Panini to release a collection based on Wimbledon, when it comes. There would be stickers of every player (men and women), as well as some extra stickers near the end of the album, like records, past champions, notable matches, e. t. c. ... kind of like how they do with some football albums.

I would love to see a handball collection from Panini or Topps. Handball is a very underrated sport, and it does not get enough credit. Personally I think Panini/Topps should release an album based on the EHF Champions League.
