Yes, 3€ is the price... At least they kept the 12 cards per packet, so it's still cheaper than Euro and imo it's another nice UCL MA set.

Have you seen the checklist? Starter vids already out. It's gonna be a twat of a set to finish.

I have already decided to pass on this one. I said before this MA is slowly moving to Hobby collection like Chrome, Stadium, etc.

New Gold Edge edition of 9, MA Hall Of Fame of 5, exclusive cards for Mega multi packs & exclusive cards for Eco Packs(sales are very low on these) + Platinum LE cards + Ultimate talent Bellingham(1 every 959593,67464 boxes) bullshit.

Keep an eye on the odds as well for the mentioned above cards. Let's not forget 9 Black E & 18 C Shields.

I will only collect the LFC cards, 100c & LE cards as they are easiest to collect.

I feel sorry for the kids and their families because they will not be able to get close to any of these cards in this hard hit economy we live in.

Well done Fanatics/Topps.

Instead of collecting a complete collection, Topps is steering collectors more and more towards hunting for exclusive cards.

You have just under 500 cards that you can collect normally + what comes in the 5 update multipacks.

Everything beyond that, and that is now almost 200 cards, is limited or exclusive and can usually only be found in certain products or at certain dealers. What's more, they are so extremely rare that you won't see much of them with normal purchase volumes.

Anyone who has not yet said goodbye to complete collecting should do so now at the latest, before they have to file for bankruptcy.

However, anyone who celebrates this type of collecting will undoubtedly find some really great cards in this year's collection. That should not go unmentioned!

By the way: The complete checklist is online on the collectosk website if anyone else would like to get an impression.

The problem is how will it be completed? Over 200 rare/exclusive cards is very much on par with the hobby boxes.
Yes it will be fun pulling the odd 1 or 2 but for the completist it's not fun. Prices will sky rocket on e-bay and other private websites because collectors will not be able to get them all. There lies the issue with this years set.
For once last year I decided to finish the Panini Donruss set but it took so much effort and money to get the missing sub-set cards I was just relieved at the end but this year I've decided not to do that or else bankruptcy as you say.

You can only really complete everything (Autographs and Relic Cards completely left out of the equation) if a few thousand euros or pounds are not needed for the rest of your daily life and can be used for this purpose.

Let's take a look at some categories as an example. And that's without including the double cards, which will inevitably be added.

The Immortal Icons: One in every 4th 1st edition multipack. It takes at least 36 multipacks for all => means at least 360 €/£. All other cards from the 1st Edition Multipacks should then be covered.

Then let's take a look at the most difficult category in terms of quantity and odds, the Chrome Shield Cards: According to the odds, at least 432 packs are needed to complete them = around 1300 €/£.

With these packs, you've probably covered everything else and, with a bit of luck, the Ultimate Talent Card will also be among them. Then there are the product-exclusive cards, for which you have to invest at least another 350 €/£ in the various product forms. This makes a total of just over 2,000 €/£. which, as I said, does not include duplicate cards. And these will undoubtedly appear in no small number.

For all those for whom this is not enough, there is now the Ultimate Talent 180° Card as a chase, which is only in every 2,000 pack. You can then spend a bit more if you're not lucky enough to find it by chance.

In addition, there are also the Gold Rush Ultra Limited Editions where you are completely dependent on Topps taking you into account and allocating all the cards to your orders. So you have no influence on this yourself, or have to buy them later on the secondary market.

So you can think about whether you want to spend all of that or collect it in a slightly smaller form and only consider the numbered cards (1-477) without letters as part of the complete collection and the rest as a bonus, which is nice, but then really only a bonus that you don't need for your complete collection. This is exactly what Topps does with regard to the reorder service, because you will only be able to order these cards there and none of the exclusives.

Pretty much spot on with analysis Ole.

I for one never go for all the extra exclusive from supermarkets and such nor do I go for the autos/relics.

As long as I have the checklist cards am good. This year I managed to finish the Black E & Chrome S for MA CL & MA Euro 2024 but not the Zen or the Sieu(CR7) as the prices were nuts on the 2nd hand markets €/£150-200.
No chance I will pay anywhere close to that just for 1 card. I can get an 1 auto or 2 for LFC players for that price.

The extra addition of sub-sets this year is exactly the direction I expected Topps to go to. It will only get worse.

Topps has unfortunately ended the time when you could complete a collection without much thought and simply to pass the time.

Now you have to set yourself new goals (unless you don't care how much you spend on the collection). Either you only collect a certain part, which you separate from the exclusive cards as in the example above, or you switch to typical American collecting and only concentrate on certain players or teams (as you have planned for yourself).

It's a shame for a Match Attax collection, as in my opinion this is a topic that should have been left to the hobby collections. But we won't be able to turn back the clock. It's more likely that we'll soon see more exclusive cards than normal cards in the collection.

Maybe the market is there for another company with a lot of money to come along and buy one license and bring collecting back to the way it used to be (ie fun!) and give both Topps and Panini a thoroughly deserved smack on the nose.

This company better have very deep pockets to be able to do that.

Now Topps are owned by Fanatics, there will be more changes for Match Attax which will not please collectors young and old.

A very good mate of mine who owns a very successful newsagent here in the UK was invited to the Super Cup final in Warsaw last week, by Topps. All expenses paid travel, hotel and match ticket.

He said to me that the price increase by Topps for this years collection is enforced by Fanatics because Panini decided to increase their prices by 80% for their AXL Prem collection. Fanatics being American decided to do likewise starting with £3 a pack this year! Prices will continue to rise according to what Topps told my friend.

He also said that the collection will gear more towards hobby as we've seen the last few years with useless Blue parallels, Purple & Emerald now. There are more people now leaning towards the American collection habit which is more Autos and relics, more team/player concentrated collection. People want only Messi cards or CR7 or Lamal, etc.

Equally, collecting a full set of LFC or Juve or Barca or whichever team they support with the emphasis on the rare cards of the collection. The new Gold Edge and other rare cards from the new Topps MA is just the start from Fanatics.

The new Prem collection from Topps next season will be given the same treatment as the CL one of this season.

I have no doubt that this is entirely true, but that excuse is also a cop out. They don't have to increase their prices just because Panini did. They could very easily have kept prices the same, designed a beautiful collection and had a year of being more affordable right before Panini lose their license anyway and Topps get it. They could have built up some goodwill that they lost slightly during Euro 2024 (not saying that's a big thing but optics are important eventually) and carried it into Premier League 2025/26 but instead they went for the greedy option of £3 a pack and tried to justify it by blaming Panini for upping theirs. There used to be days on companies undercutting one other to win custom, not one upping each other with ludicrous price rises. The current prices for both Adrenalyn and Match Attax, two collections that no matter how beautiful are entry level and often made out of the cheapest material, is shameful. Hobby prices for this type of card is a borderline scam.

Parallels are easy enough to avoid for the average collector so I have no particular objection to them in card collections. They're not needed whatsoever and budget collections in the UK are not the forum for this nonsense but, sure, keep them if they want. Stickers? Absolutely not, get rid of parallels there they don't even make sense in existing.

The big issue is all the exclusive cards. Buy this box for this special card, this booster for that, this tin for another. It's too much. The idea that if it's not printed on the "official checklist" (even though they still advertise them in starter packs!) that they're no more part of the collection than anything else is absurd. My nephew sees all these products and wants everything, it's just not affordable. The cards are always available cheaper on eBay anyway from people who have so many that they simply must have acquired tins etc through dodgy means so the money isn't even going to Topps/Panini it's going to resellers. It's a total false economy.

I managed to complete much of this set although I didn't bother with the Chrome Shields and some of the LEs. Autograph cards and relics - I leave them to the real fanatics and I don't have the funds or the will to go after them.

But......it felt like climbing Everest and to be honest it was all a bit dispiriting (actually it was a lot dispiriting) and after I got what I wanted to get and ended up with a binder so big you need a wheelbarrow to move it around I decided that enough was enough.

I love these collections - but this hobby is supposed to be fun after all......and I'm afraid collecting this massive set just wasn't.

Topps collections are beyond most people's budgets these days. It will not get any better - the new MA collection coming out in September are even more expensive than this one was.

I can't do this any more - there are better things out there to collect that don't break the budget quite so much.
