Investors

Hello Everyone!!
I haven’t spoke on this site in a very long time. Hope everyone is doing well & staying healthy.

I wanted to bring something up, has anyone else noticed this craze going on? I noticed on Social Media, YouTubers and Music Artist talking about investing in Cards/Stickers.

Honestly it’s getting a bit annoying, I think this will ruin our hobby in the future. Some people I spoke with said might be great for the future brings more collectors, but I’m not holding my breath. Anyone else want to share ?

Yes, I think it's terrible. I don't see cards/stickers as an investment, but as an hobby. People think they can get easy money buying today and reselling in the future, but I think (and I hope) that the bubble will burst, when they will realize that it's more complicated than that. For the time being we need to adjust to the situation.

Exactly! I feel like this bubble will burst. Panini won’t be able to keep up with production and once they keep producing more quantity of stickers then to “investors” they become worthless

Are you sure that Panini will keep producing more quantity? I dont think it.
In Spain, it has released the fourth edition of Liga Este 20-21. In every box, there are 100 stickers of this edition for sure. But I have seen an unboxing of 2 boxes and Pedri doesnt appear. Pedri is the new rookie in this season. How it is possible that the fourth edition contains 100 new different sticker, it opens 100 packets, 200 stickers of this edition and doesnt appear?
For the real collectors is a big problem. For the collectors who use this hobby is a business!

Yeah I totally agree. I think we're living in a neat bubble at the moment where the biggest collectors are those that grew up in the 70s/80s/90s.

Most can live out there wildest sticker dreams 20-30 years on!

To build up my 80s collections I have had to buy a lot in batches from sellers which left me with 1000s of spares. I've been listing these spares (no-one needs 15 of the same player!) and I'd say typically I get my money back on them which helps pay for the collection... a little.

For league albums I see the best returns on the early/mid 80s which is my age group. Then other seasons can really be hit and miss (even late 70s), which generally means I don't make anything, but I don't lose anything either. If I can buy a batch of stickers, take what I need and re-list them at least it gets the spares back out on the market for others to have and a little money re-grouped.

Going forward I'd be surprised if we see this golden period last much longer as I hear that sales have been poor for ESTE this year. Without fans in grounds we haven't got a sport anymore and even kids that enjoyed the World Cup albums will lose interest when xBox comes calling!

I also expect that companies like Panini/Topps will be squeezed soon with the green revolution going on so we may see our hobby diminish.

Enjoy it while you can!

I'm a collector 100% for sure, but i hope my 'investment' is still worth something when i roll over and die  since it's not that cheap to get rare pieces.

I don't think card or stickers are a good investment as they are volatile on the market, and it's risky. However, I want to start a business as a medical resident, any recommendations from specialist?

Investing in things like cards/stickers may seem like a hobby, but it is not a safe way to invest your money. These types of investments can be risky. If you are looking for a safe way to invest your money, it's best to seek advice from companies that specialize in financial planning. The team from https://www.thefinitygroup.com/financial-planning-for-physicians can help you understand the different investment options available, and create a plan that meets your specific goals. As a physician, I know from my own experience that working with them helped me to start my own business and invest my money wisely.

That's how it should be, as it's a great hobby indeed.

It's good when we can realise some funds again if we have too many spares to sell off as let's be honest most of our money we receive goes straight back into Panini!

I for instance may list some spares on eBay for France 98 into auction this weekend (if I can get my act into gear!). When I started re-collecting I stupidly had no idea that some of the stickers were not produced so I kept on buying packets/boxes whilst they were cheap but it leaves me with 100s of spares.

The only sad thing in the past 2-3 years is that Panini has almost cut off our access to league collections from elsewhere - I think it matters not where you live but weirdly they post Foot, ESTE, Calci et al to British Virgin Isles, Turkmenistan etc but not to UK. I think the same happens everywhere.

This for me shifted our focus, moved us away from collecting the really nice league collections and left us spending much less with them.

What's really sad is that now they have lost the Euro rights I have spare sets of Women's 2022 unfinished as I can't easily buy the missing stickers now. I believe by losing the rights they cannot sell Euro missing stickers etc! This encourages greedy sellers on eBay to raise the prices too.

Maybe here we should fill the missing gaps, collect our spares together and offer a good service whilst paying back into the collective for those that take part.

I agree totally, this is the most ludicrous decision ever that Panini have taken for collectors.

You can’t ever tell me that its easier for them to send a complete collection to somewhere like Cape Verde or Trinidad and Tobago instead to the UK or Germany from their warehouse in Italy for example?

I am a willing customer and I genuinely want to buy a complete collection from them but can’t as they have decided to alienate us. I appreciate that I’m repeating what I’ve said before elsewhere on here but it’s such a shame.
