How do you store your collection?

Hi collectors,

Even if you have an incredible amount of cards or if you are starting and have just a few collections (as I am), how do you store your cards?

In the near future, I would like to install in a wall a glass showcase in where I would have my best - or more appreciated - cards, something as below:

But in the meantime, I store my best cards in two big binders, and the ones that are not so great (base cards or repeated) in little boxes, inside of a bigger box.

What are your experiences and advises to store and protect our cards? I am not refering to sleeves or toploaders, just to be clear :)

Greetings to all, from Argentina!

So you mean ways of displaying collection instead of storing it in binders and holders, if I understood right?

These display stands look really impressive. I think that only disadvantage is (unless you DIY these kind of stuff) that they are going to be expensive and take a lot of space. Trust me, from my personal experience do not expand your collection display space unless you absolutely have to.

Personally I have a whole room just for collection and other stuff I am interested in (or I was) such as working out (yes I really worked out in past :D) One day I might need that room for something and I would have to take out shelves and bunch of other crap that I found useless now, but seamed like a good idea to store my collection in, in past.

My point is : it looks much better with a glass display but just takes a lot of space and might cost a lot, and still you can not put as much cards as you can in binder.

If you are on Pinterest, there is really great board that posts photos of creative ways to store your collection. I am not sure if you have enough space or not, just be careful with that.

This is great and I would love to do this, But make sure the glass is UV. The reason why light eventually ruins cards after a while. That's why best place to store your cards is in a dark room....but you will never enjoy them as much in a dark room rather then a great display as this.

@ilias :Notice in the back the champagne bottle box on the left and the retro lava lamp in the middle ..:rolleyes::D

I find putting them in UltraPro sleeves/ binders is best
There is never enough space in the binders that are issued....especially if you collect all of the rarer cards, limited edition cards etc
And that is also a good way of keeping them in uniform binders which mean that everything looks neat and tidy when stacked on the shelf

For cards I think the ultra-pro/BCW 9 pocket page is great. In my opinion for stickers sometimes the stickers move around too much and when stacked on top of each other the stickers start to bend in a certain angle

I use them for stickers also, idd they bend a little bit but imo it's the best solution moneywize for sure. I've thought to put cards behind them so they wouldn't bend...

I agree for the money they are the best, I would say putting cards and stickers together will make sure the stickers will stay straight but after a while your cards might get damaged quicker because of the sticker being pressed on top of the cards. If you are putting your stickers on top of your cards now please give me feedback on the condition

I would use 'worthless' cards, so if the sticker would stay ok that would be fine for me.
Like for example, MTG-lands. Still have to find someone who has like 10k lands lol.

I personally use little food bags , put around 100/200 stickers in , and then use "big" sandwich food bags to put the little food bags in it. So far it has given good results .

This was a late post just finished reading all the comments. Im not sure for longevity reasons it would not be good for the stickers to be placed with the Magic the gathering cards. The reason why maybe the magic cards have acid and that can spread to your stickers and eventually ruin the sticker

I'm trying to find solutions the hobby is growing year after year but supplies is still the same.

I thought the magic cards where acid free? Will check though
Your right the cards do not have acid.

Now if you buy storage accessories. If you notice certain products will say Acid free or no PVC aside free.

Cards do not have acid we should be fine.
