You were sleeping, my friend
This has gone viral in Portugal and it seems many network channels around the world have noticed to.
Here's the story: this father, grandfather and two sons were waiting to get out of Guimarães stadium after the match... For security reasons, the police didn't open the doors, so many Benfica supporters were trapped inside the stadium corridors.
Among them were those four and the younger son was feeling dehydrated, because of the many people there and also the hot weather (this May had many days with temperatures above 30º, unusual so early)... So, the father asked the police watching the doors to open them, since the kid wasn't feeling well... The police agreed, but only for them 4, so they came out.
After they came out, a woman noticed the kid needed water and she gave him her bottle (you see her on the left, in the beginning of the video, leaving the place)... According to the father, the officer in question saw they were outside the stadium and asked him what they (the four) were doing outside... Father explained, the police argued that this wasn't a good situation to bring kids (probably he was right, these scenarios with people trapped are not good to have kids among them)... Father argued that he would bring them to where he would feel safe... I bet there was more than that, maybe with some disrespect to the officer, but nothing really offensive (according to many witnesses there), but what happened then was completely out of proportions.
Anyway, the jerk was the commanding officer there, so it's even worse... The others clearly acted within what the situation required, calming people and controling the situation with the proper amount of force... So most people are against this officer, because he was clearly out of his mind... The youngest child even peed in his shorts ( you can see it when he was being calmed down by another officer).
The officer in question has wrote in his report that the father spit on him and even ripped a bit of his uniform... You can't see anything like that in the video and again, the witnesses didn't see any of that.. Also this officer had a past disciplinary procedure for... can you guess it? Yeah, excessive force... Also, a merchant has filed a compaint against him last month, also in the stadium and again, for excessive force.
Anyway, in the next day after the incident, the police high commands and the public prosecutors have initiated a disciplinary procedure against the officer... Let's see how it ends, but with so many public attention, that officer is toasted.
