Complete eGuide - Collaborative work

Hello Everyone,

I guess all of us appreciate the eGuides from Pavle (and also all the contributors) availble on Cardzreview.

I hope I will not offense anyone when I said that it is very cool but they are not complete and some of them are missing.

Here it is my proposal, build two complete eGuides one for world Cups 1970-2014 and another one for Euros 1980-2016.

The structure of the eGuides Chapters will be for example like that :
- Intro
- Regular album reviews
- Albums covers variations
- Albums Inside Variations
- Stickers Updates and variations
- Commercial operations stickers
- Packs variations with detailes explained
- Conclusion

We already have material to do part of the job, but I guess to be efficent this must be done in a collaborative with as much as contributors as possible.

First thing to do is to check who want to be part of it as contributor. In order to have a motivated team to work in this project. I hope to have a lot of replies ;-)

Second thing (can be done in parallel of the first thing), is to find a way to work in a collaborative mode. Find a way that allow multiple people to work on single document. Any Ideas ?

We will have more topics to adress, but if we achieve the two first things in the coming month I guess it will be be a good start.

Waiting for your replies

I'm of course part of it. I'm sure there are a lot of technical solutions to work on a single document, but I'm sure some people here are more specialists than me and can help us to find the best formula, even if they don't contribute.

I'm not really into most things about WC and Euro albums, but of course I can help whenever it's possible (I'm good at finding typos! :D)

For someone to be a contributor, you just need to ask @Pavle... Be aware that you need to write good english and we expect that you are aware of your skills.

To work on the same document, I believe it's possible with the wordpress tool we have for the blog articles... Only one user (registered as contributor) can work on it everytime (avoids duplicates) and it also has the revisions history, whenever there's a need to rollback to a certain point... Don't know if it's possible later to export to pdf or similar.

Hello Dantzig,

I think I have expressed myself badly, using the word "contributors" I did not realize that this word meant something special in Cardzreview. Sorry about that.

I should say helpers, it is much better.

Also about English Skills, I don't pretend myself to be a good english writter, I hope they they will be a fluent English speaker/writter in the helpers team.

Thanks for your first feedback on the collaborative tool.

If you want to do something like this I prefer you Crowdin. You can invite friends, and create a project. They can help you to translate somehing and add some text, as I remember. I am not sure, but you can check. I can help anyway, too.

I think this is a great idea. Will be willing to help with technical stuff and promoting this sort of community work. All of our work on those guides was public and freely available.

It all started with @marinerpete excellent idea followed by plenty of great finds. If someone wishes to organize it and present it better, it's more than welcome. @stickercat also has some of those and can possibly repost them since some of the links expired. I might have some early verisons of the guides, but those are quite outdated.

Let's check the Crowdin. But the ,,capital man'' Need to pay probably 15Euros per month. It's site where you can add pictures to your own project and add info in few languages. At the least, when we complete informations, change the program to next which is creating books.
And the next interesting way is creating this as real book :D It was my dream few years ago. Let's create Crowdin, and invite up to 2 guys each country.

FIFA have created some projects also there :D

https://crowdin.com/page/in-action - You can check, and give me your opinion.

I'm sure there are free alternatives out there. Never heard of crowdin. I'm sure though that the community can crowfund such project if such platform is the only solution.

The guides which I found were made by @stickersCat

Packet Guide > Link
Albums Guide > Link

If you do a forum search for a variation a guide or a version it will show up some stuff that perhaps is not there.

I think it's the best to keep such discussion on the forum and organize gathered data piece by piece in the most convenient way.

While I won't be able to contribute with adding new stuff , there are many people who here who can. Would be happy to setup a donation fond if needed for such project though.

It's all up to you guys, collaborate share and make great things!

Okay, I have been created an account: https://redbooth.com/a/ I can invite only to 10 people. It's free. I can make few accounts. The best way is uploading pictures, and add notes about every picture. Let's start with Confederations Cup 2017, and look how it will be look at the end. Translation to other languages also able. Who's interested send me PM and do that.

I also make Crowdin but we need to finish them within 10 days

Hello,

I'm so so happy that finally my initial thread catch some atention. Many thanks @Pavle and @Kacper13.

Agreed with @Pavle, everything must be discussed here, it is the most convinient way to keep informed as much helpers as possible.

Thanks @Kacper13 for the example of collaborative plateform, we will see what will be the most convient, but in my opinion before setting up the plateform we have other things to do before, such as :

- Have a minimum helpers team (for the moment Me, Makhno and Pavle, Kacper12 I guess ;)), we need to be more
- Define the structure of the eGuide chapters
- Define the skills needed (A graphic Guy for example, also a fluent english writter not like me, and so on ...)
- ......

We can start defining the eGuide structure chapters to start, in my opinion I guess we will at least two volumes, one dedicated to world Cups and another one dedicated to Euros.

For example a structure for a world cup album :
- Chapter decicated to a global overview (Number of stickers, size of the album, size of the stikers, numbers of stickers per pack, front picture of one of the album, picture example of the sticker, example picture of the pack)
- Chapter dedicated to the albums versions
- ......

The final purpose is to produce an electronic document as much complete as possible to become the bible for collectors. Of course if this can be edited as a real book it will be a great achievement.

What do you think ?

I think like you that we must set up the frame before starting to build it. And of course, you are the project manager.

No the only position I will accept is Project Director :D:D:D:D:D

More seriously, it will be a huge and very long work to build the two volumes (World Cup and Euros), If it is done by the 2022 world cup it will be a success.

Do it. I can get some images, looking on old eBay auctions, etc. and some informations, too. Who will create a place to do this project? The best way is having two guys each country.

Hello, count on me for anything I could help about collections or versions from this side of the globe... I was trying to build the Copa America ebook (albums and packets) with some other collectors from this site but the project was left in standby in the compilation of info stage due to lack of time, but if there's anything you need on this new project about more info, photos or scans I would be glad to help you guys.

Many good Ideas so far.
I´d be very interested in it too. I am willing to help but I guess a lot of guys here have more knowledge and sources about the interesting stuff from the 90´s and earlier.
So if there is someone needed for the simple office jobs, I´ll offer my help.

Unfortunately I got in the Panini hobby in 2015 so here I can’t really offer any help as those collections are »out of my league«, as FIFA 365 is really more of my series.

But I can offer help with Panini Women's 2011 World Cup. I'm currently writing an in-depth review of the Panini REWE Deutsche Bahn series which was available at the same time as the main Panini series (review will be available in January 2018) and then I will move to the main collection. I have the complete lose collection so photos will not be a problem.

All the reviews are available on my blog because there it's easier for me to edit things than to post in on the forum here, but I have no problems sharing any of »my stuff« here because my blog is not designed to make a profit for me, it's just a way to »share thoughts« (I hope that somebody might read it) and spend a rainy day or a cold day inside doing something other than just doing nothing.

Also while on the topic of sharing I saw that no review of FIFA 365 2018 is available on the home page of CardzReview. I prepared one for my blog and if any of the moderators here think that my review is good enough I would gladly made it available for the CardzReview to use.

And btw Google Docs is offering a way to work on the document simultaneously… This is the video that shows how this is possible (I think that’s easier to show on video than if I tried to explain it in words). The limit is 50 people working on the same document.

Video is available here

Our blog indeed needs fresher content. However we have a policy of not republishing other people stuff. If you'd like to blog and share the passion with a unique content, unpublished I can hook you up with an account. I was just about to write that we need to improve our blog since many new collectors will be here when the new World Cup Starts.

Congratulations on your own blog, it touches a very unique topic of financing behind stickers, I like it.

Ok I understand the policy. I don't want to go off topic so private message will be a better solution once I will have something that is not published yet. I will contact you and we will talk then (no need for a special account at the current time).

For short “statements” I always use CardzReview and will continue to do so in the future.
